Painted Handmade Bespoke Kitchen & Utility Room Bedfordshire
This handmade Bespoke kitchen in Bedfordshire is a solid wood kitchen built by a local craftsman based in Essex.
The house was purchased by the new owners how had saved the house and plot of land from being demolished.
Many people and families are drawn to Bedfordshire by its reputation for; education, good value houses and quality of life. 35 minutes North of Central London, Bedfordshire Borough is close enough to the capital to attract commuters, but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
The new owners started an intensive renovation of the house, they where keen to respect the feel of the original house as well as putting their personal stamp on the property. Their vision for the kitchen and utility room (which sits in the very large new extension) was light and airy. With such space and light pouring in, the owners had plenty of room to play with! They opted for the Little Green equivalent Flint for the cupboards and cabinets and for the island unit they chose the Little Green equivalent Peach Blossom. Two colours that created the perfect balance of classic and chic.
A hand painted finish was the only option for the beautifully crafted handmade kitchen. Having seen some our kitchen work on our website the owners were excited to invite Galerie Interiors to paint their kitchen.
Bespoke Handmade Kitchen by Essex Kitchen Company
Choosing a handmade bespoke kitchen can be the best option if you are undergoing a major renovation, or you are looking to change the look and feel of your kitchen. Bespoke kitchens can feature an unrestricted choice of; materials, styles, finishes, colour and design elements, all centred around your own personal requirements. Common challenges faced by clients, with awkward shaped or sized kitchens or listed property’s, etc can overcome these and other issues by a bespoke handmade kitchen.
The term “Bespoke” can be off putting particularly because people can assume that Bespoke means very expensive. However it is important to consider that not only will a bespoke kitchen give you exactly what you desire; in terms of design, functionality and the all important ‘Wow Factor’ when creating your dream kitchen. Bespoke kitchens can last a life time, they can be changed, updated over the years, whilst still maintaining the splendour of the original craftmanship.
Bespoke Handmade kitchens are perfect for a hand painted finish. The process of hand painting the raw wood ensures that when the wood moves (which it will do over time) you will definitely not experience any cracking of the paint.
Hand painting provides a beautiful, natural appearance with a tactile feel. Any imperfections in the wood, etc can be repaired and rectified quickly and easily by using our skills and experience of handing painting over a number of years.
Many people will be curious to know how hand painting compares with a sprayed finish, specifically on a bespoke handmade kitchen:
Hand painting with a brush and roller has many advantages over a sprayed finish. Due to the spraying process a spray finish can look too flat and dull on a Bespoke handmade kitchen, and this can detract from the character and overall look of the kitchen.
A spray finish cannot be repaired, you can’t simply sand down and re-touch paint to damaged areas on a door or drawer that has been spayed. Spray finish tends to chip and crack more easily, furthermore with a sprayed finish the paint can come away from the wood more easily, and more quickly, this becomes very noticeable over time.
Preparation
The correct preparation and materials are vital to the process involved in painting a handmade kitchen. With materials such as bare wood and MDF this is a lengthier process then painting an existing kitchen. The bare wood is sanded, sealed and re sanded before applying a primer, depending on the colour will depend on the number of coats of primer and top coat. It is crucial that all the gaps, screw holes and other imperfections made during fitting are filed, sanded and sealed before the paint is applied. Correct preparation and materials are used to get the best possible seamless finish on all surfaces. Attention to detail is what we at Galerie Interiors do best, we treat every surface with respect, checking all our work as we go.
I cannot stress enough that a hand painted kitchen, done professionally, to a high standard will show absolutely no brush mark, and the durable paint that is used to finish the kitchen is tough and durable, contrary to popular belief/myth a hand painted kitchen will not chip and crack.
